GTA VI Radio: How Rockstar Built a Music Industry Inside Its Own Games
GTA 6 radio stations are not official yet. Leaked footage shows CircoLoco Records Radio and V-Rock. Plus all 14 Extended Look songs and the 6 album singles.

Rockstar has not officially named the GTA 6 radio stations yet: leaked August 2026 footage showed a dial including CircoLoco Records Radio, V-Rock and Dirty South Classics, and Rockstar's own 17 September announcement promises more on "the next evolution of in-game radio" before the game lands on 19 November 2026. The music is further along. The Extended Look, which aired on Netflix on 27 August, carried fourteen songs, and three of them are club records: Aluna and Jayda G's Mine O' Mine, Elderbrook and Bob Moses' Inner Light, and !!! with Meah Pace. On 17 September Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, 34 original tracks made with Atlantic Records, and put out six singles. CircoLoco Records, the label the leaked station is named after, is real: Rockstar Games launched it in partnership with CircoLoco in May 2021. That is the detail worth stopping on, because Rockstar has spent two and a half decades building the most effective music discovery machine in entertainment, and it now runs a real dance label of its own. Here is every song confirmed so far, what the leaked station list says is coming, and why a games company ended up operating a record label at all.
GTA VI music: quick facts
- Official radio stations: none announced as of 25 September 2026; Rockstar says details of "the next evolution of in-game radio" are coming
- Leaked station list: CircoLoco Records Radio, V-Rock, eMotion 98.3, Back Country Radio, Symphony FM, Stockyard FM, Dirty South Classics, Honey FM, Radio On.U
- Status of that list: unauthorised gameplay footage leaked in August 2026, not a Rockstar announcement
- Extended Look: aired 27 August 2026, premiered on Netflix, now free on YouTube and the official site
- Songs in the reveal: 14, spanning Florida rap, Dominican dembow, 80s pop, soft rock and contemporary house
- Official album: Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, 34 original tracks with Atlantic Records, out 19 November 2026; six singles released 17 September
- Release: 19 November 2026, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S
- Setting: Leonida, a state built around a modern Vice City
- Real label: CircoLoco Records, launched by Rockstar Games in partnership with CircoLoco on 24 May 2021; releases are credited to Rockstar Records LLC
- Fictional label: Only Raw Records, run in-game by Dre'Quan Priest
Every song in the GTA VI Extended Look
Fourteen tracks, some pushed to the front of a scene and some sitting under dialogue. Grouped by the lane each one occupies, because the spread is the actual information: this is Rockstar showing you the shape of the radio dial before it announces a single station.
| Artist | Track | Lane |
| Aluna & Jayda G | Mine O' Mine | House, 2022, Mad Decent |
| Elderbrook & Bob Moses | Inner Light | Melodic house |
| !!! feat. Meah Pace | Off the Grid | Dance punk |
| Birdman feat. Lil Wayne | Pop Bottles | Southern rap |
| Sexyy Red & Tay Keith | Pound Town | Southern rap |
| Kodak Black | Skrilla | Florida rap |
| Chimbala & Omega | Se Me Nota (Agarrame) | Dominican dembow |
| Depeche Mode | People Are People | 1980s synth pop |
| Def Leppard | Love Bites | 1980s rock |
| Phil Collins | Against All Odds | 1980s pop |
| Prefab Sprout | Cars and Girls | 1980s sophisti-pop |
| Cliff Richard | Devil Woman | Soft rock |
| The Bellamy Brothers | Let Your Love Flow | Country pop |
| Captain & Tennille | But I Think It's a Dream | Soft rock |
Read the balance rather than the names. Four of the fourteen are 1980s records, which is the Vice City tax and was always going to be paid. Three are Southern and Florida rap. Three are club records. One is Dominican dembow. The rest is country and soft rock, which is the part of Leonida that is not Vice City at all.
The club three are the ones that matter here, because they are not nostalgia. Mine O' Mine came out on Mad Decent in April 2022 and got an Inner City remix package two months later. Elderbrook and Bob Moses are a current melodic house pairing. !!! have been making dance punk since 1996. Rockstar could have filled every one of those slots with a synth record from 1985 and nobody would have complained. It put contemporary dance music in the reveal instead, which is exactly what you would expect from a company that has been running a house and techno label since 2021.
GTA VI: The Album, the six singles so far
On 17 September 2026 Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the official soundtrack album, made in partnership with Atlantic Records. It carries 34 original tracks and comes out on 19 November with the game, on streaming, vinyl and CD. Six singles came out the same day:
- Yung Lean: That's It, featuring Future and Metro Boomin
- Travis Scott: RHYNO, produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo
- CA7RIEL and Paco Amoroso, PinkPantheress, Fred again.. and Etienne de Crécy: Sexy Magic
- Morgan Wallen: Last Thing You Need
- Rauw Alejandro: Macacoa 2000
- Keith Richards: Bright Lights, Big City
The album is original music, not the radio. Rockstar's announcement says more is coming on "the dynamic score, the next evolution of in-game radio, and more", so the station lineup is still unannounced. For club listeners, the one to hear first is Sexy Magic, which puts Fred again.. and the French house producer Etienne de Crécy on the same record.
GTA radio was never really a soundtrack
The easiest way to misread Rockstar's relationship with music is to think of GTA as a game with licensed songs in it. It behaves much more like a fictional radio network. Stations have identities. Hosts talk over records. There are jingles, adverts, political arguments, fake products and local references. Different genres stand in for different communities inside the city.
That distinction is the whole thing. When Rockstar built GTA V around its version of Southern California, music supervisor Ivan Pavlovich described a process that started with the environment rather than the playlist: the saturation of pop radio in Los Angeles produced Non-Stop-Pop FM, Flying Lotus became the obvious centre for a stranger electronic station, and West Coast rap, alternative, classic rock and Latin programming filled in the rest of the picture. Hundreds more tracks were considered before the launch selection was cut to roughly 241 songs. The concept and personality of a station came first, then the music, then a DJ or artist capable of carrying it.
Which is why GTA radio has always been unusually good at putting enormous records next to things almost nobody had heard. The point was never familiarity. The point was taste, and taste is the one thing a recommendation algorithm still cannot fake.
When the artists became the stations
Over time Rockstar handed real cultural authority to musicians. Flying Lotus became the voice and creative centre of FlyLo FM. Gilles Peterson brought his global approach to Worldwide FM. Frank Ocean built blonded Los Santos 97.8 FM. Julian Casablancas hosted KULT FM. ROSALÍA and Arca fronted MOTOMAMI Los Santos, a station that moved between reggaeton, experimental electronic music, rap and flamenco without ever sounding like a commercial playlist.
The MOTOMAMI tracklist gives the game away. The station put Playboi Carti, DJ Spinn and Camarón de la Isla next to Arca, ROSALÍA and Bad Gyal's A La Mía, a record released exclusively for the station. At that point GTA radio had stopped being a soundtrack and started operating as an editorial music platform. The artists were not licensing tracks into Rockstar's world. They were programming parts of it.
Then Rockstar built the club
The next move happened inside GTA Online. Instead of only putting dance music on the radio, Rockstar built places where club culture could physically exist in the game. Nightclubs became businesses you could run. The Music Locker became a venue. Cayo Perico had parties. Solomun, Dixon, Tale Of Us, The Blessed Madonna, Moodymann, Keinemusik and Palms Trax appeared inside the GTA universe as themselves.
That reads as normal now, because virtual concerts have become a genre of their own. It was not normal at the time, and it was not a one-off stadium moment either. These DJs became part of the world. You could walk into a room, watch a set, hear the records and carry on playing while the music stayed around you. The line between game soundtrack and virtual nightlife got very thin. Then Rockstar crossed it completely and started a record label.

CircoLoco Records is the part most coverage still misses
In May 2021, Rockstar Games and the Ibiza institution CircoLoco launched CircoLoco Records, a real label putting out real records on real streaming platforms. We have written the full history of that label separately, from the 1999 Monday after-party at DC-10 through five years of catalogue, so this piece will stay on what it means for GTA.
The short version: CircoLoco is not a festival brand with a logo to rent. Its Monday parties at DC-10 became one of the defining institutions of modern underground club culture, the kind of room where a career either survives contact with the floor or does not. Rockstar's involvement made unusual sense, because both companies had spent years building worlds around music rather than simply selling music.
The debut compilation, Monday Dreamin', carried 20 new tracks from Rampa, Moodymann, Carl Craig, Dixon, Adam Beyer, Seth Troxler, Tale Of Us, Sama' Abdulhadi, DJ Tennis, Kerri Chandler, Bedouin and Red Axes. It went out on the normal streaming platforms on 9 July 2021, and Rockstar also hid a special in-game version in GTA Online's Los Santos Tuners update: collect all four Monday Dreamin' media sticks and you unlock a continuous DJ mix of the whole compilation, with new interpretations of all 20 tracks.
That closed a loop nobody else in games had: real artists, real label, streaming services, GTA, new listeners. It is a different thing from sync licensing, because Rockstar is no longer only arriving after a finished record exists. Through the label it can be in the room earlier.
And the label did not quietly die after the launch press, which is what usually happens to this kind of project. It is still shipping in 2026. Rockstar has spent this year promoting CircoLoco releases through its own channels, including Prospa's debut album Free Your Mind, Prospa and Murda Beatz's Baby, ANOTR and Emily Warren's Silver Lines, and Michael Bibi and KETTAMA's Mystery of Raw, out on 14 August, whose vocal hook is a sample of Wu-Tang Clan's Da Mystery of Chessboxin'.
CircoLoco Records Radio appears in the leaked GTA VI station list
On 18 August 2026, nine days before the Extended Look, a leaker operating as Cyberleek began publishing unauthorised GTA VI gameplay clips and map images. PC Gamer noted that the in-game radio in one clip was playing Tate McRae's Sports Car, released in January 2025, so the footage appears to come from a relatively recent build. Take-Two has since asked a New York federal court to subpoena Microsoft and Discord under the DMCA, seeking account data, IP addresses and device records, with a deadline of 4 September 2026.
One of those clips showed a redesigned radio interface. RockstarINTEL listed the stations visible in the leaks as CircoLoco Records Radio, V-Rock, eMotion 98.3, Back Country Radio, Symphony FM, Stockyard FM, Dirty South Classics, Honey FM and Radio On.U. A later clip, on 23 August, added The Wipe, Cocoteo FM, Worldwide FM, Kaleidoscope FM, La Ola and The Chamber 106.6. Some viewers also described an On Demand option sitting beneath the station list; none of the coverage we checked confirms it.
The Extended Look did not settle it, and neither did the album announcement. Rockstar has shown fourteen songs and six album singles and no station lineup, so the dial is still only known from a leak. None of this should be treated as the final GTA VI radio lineup. It is development material from an unfinished build. Stations vanish. Tracks get cut. Interfaces get redesigned. We are not linking the footage and we would encourage nobody to go looking for it.
But CircoLoco Records Radio is no longer a fan theory. It has turned up in material apparently taken from a working build, CircoLoco content has existed inside GTA Online since the label launched, and strategically the station is the obvious end point of everything above. Rockstar started a label in 2021, put its releases into GTA Online, and five years later its biggest game appears to carry a station named after it. That is a considerably deeper relationship between games and music than buying a sync licence.
Worldwide FM turning up on that list is worth a second look too, because it is the artist-run station model coming back rather than a new idea. If both survive to launch, GTA VI would ship with a station run by a real independent radio institution and a station run by Rockstar's own label, in the same menu.
GTA has already been used to premiere music first
There is a harder reason to take the label station seriously. Rockstar has already used GTA as a release platform, and the clearest case is Dr. Dre.
In The Contract, an entire GTA Online storyline turned on recovering a phone containing Dre's unreleased music. The songs were not simply added to a soundtrack. Getting to them was built into the missions. They were new songs that, when the update landed in December 2021, only GTA players could hear.
Then the interesting part. After players had already heard the music inside GTA, six of the Dr. Dre tracks arrived on Spotify, Apple Music and the rest in February 2022 as an EP through Aftermath and Interscope, the first time the collection had been available outside the game.
The normal direction is streaming release, then game licensing. Rockstar ran it backwards: GTA premiere, then streaming release. That precedent is the thing to hold onto when thinking about GTA VI. The question stops being only which existing records Rockstar will licence, and becomes whether artists could release through GTA first.

GTA VI puts the music business inside the story
This is the part that should interest anyone who actually works in this industry, and it is officially confirmed rather than leaked. GTA VI contains its own fictional music business.
Boobie Ike runs an empire spanning real estate, a strip club and a recording studio. He is working with Dre'Quan Priest, an aspiring music mogul building a label called Only Raw Records. Dre'Quan has signed the rap duo Real Dimez, whose story runs on viral records, social-media attention and the search for the next hit. Rockstar gives Dre'Quan the line: "Dancers are like my A&Rs."
Read that line again, because it is a joke with a real mechanism inside it. Testing records on a dancefloor before committing to them is not satire, it is how a functioning A&R process has always worked, and it is exactly the DC-10 terrace filter that CircoLoco Records is built on. Rockstar has taken the actual working method of underground dance music and handed it to a fictional strip-club label in Vice City.
Studios, labels, A&R, club testing, local rappers, virality, artist development, promotion. All of it is inside the game world now. So by launch Rockstar could effectively be running two labels at once: CircoLoco Records in the real world, Only Raw Records inside the fiction, with GTA radio sitting between them.
The GTA effect is already measurable, before anyone has played it
The commercial force behind all of this is easiest to see in what GTA VI has already done to catalogue records it has barely used.
The first trailer used Tom Petty's 1989 record Love Is A Long Road. Spotify reported streams rising by roughly 37,000%.
The second trailer did something stranger. The Pointer Sisters' 1986 title track Hot Together, a record that was not in anyone's rotation, rose by 182,000% on Spotify after the trailer landed, according to figures Spotify gave The Hollywood Reporter.
The Extended Look did it again, and this time to a club record. Luminate figures published by Billboard, as collected by RockstarINTEL, put Elderbrook and Bob Moses' Inner Light up 462% to 694,000 US on-demand streams over 28 to 31 August, against the same days a week earlier.
That is the difference between a GTA placement and a playlist add. A song does not simply appear next to three hundred other songs. Rockstar gives it a city, characters, cars, a visual identity, a cultural moment and potentially hundreds of hours of repetition. Context is the product.

What we expected, and what actually played
The section below was written before the Extended Look aired, working from Rockstar's method rather than from any leak: the geography of Leonida decides the music, and Leonida is culturally much bigger than "Miami means the 1980s". The fourteen songs are now out, so here is the same call with the answers next to it.
Southern and Florida rap. Expected, on the basis that a station called Dirty South Classics fits the location exactly and South Florida and Atlanta give Rockstar decades to work with. Played: Birdman and Lil Wayne, Sexyy Red and Tay Keith, Kodak Black. Three of fourteen, and the Kodak Black record is Florida rather than a Southern import.
Caribbean and Latin. Expected, because Miami's Cuban, Puerto Rican, Haitian and wider Caribbean communities are not decoration and the official use of Haitian band Zenglen around GTA VI already pointed past the postcard version of the city. Played: Chimbala and Omega, Se Me Nota (Agarrame). Dominican dembow, which is a more specific answer than the reggaeton most people would have guessed.
Electronic. Expected, on the grounds that Rockstar has spent years building relationships across house and techno and owns a label in the scene. Played: Aluna and Jayda G, Elderbrook and Bob Moses, !!! with Meah Pace. Three of fourteen, all contemporary rather than archival. This is the one that carries the most information, and it is covered above.
Country and soft rock. Expected, because Leonida runs well past Vice City into wetlands and small towns, and Back Country Radio turned up on the leaked dial, with Glen Campbell's Rhinestone Cowboy among the songs reported from the leaked clips. Played: The Bellamy Brothers, Cliff Richard, Captain and Tennille. Three of fourteen, which is more weight on that lane than most previews assumed.
The 1980s. Expected as one layer of the city's musical history rather than its whole identity, on the argument that rebuilding the 2002 soundtrack would miss the point of a contemporary Vice City. Played: Depeche Mode, Def Leppard, Phil Collins, Prefab Sprout. Four of fourteen. The decade is the single largest bloc and still under a third of the reveal, which is roughly where the argument put it.
Five lanes, five confirmations, and the useful part is the proportion rather than the hit rate. Rockstar used its first real showing to demonstrate range across an entire state, not to sell nostalgia. A soundtrack that spends three slots on current dance records and three on country is not a Vice City tribute act.
The most interesting word in the leak is not CircoLoco
It may be On Demand.
Traditional GTA radio runs on broadcast logic. You pick the station, the station picks the record. That constraint is a feature: it is what makes discovery happen, because you sit through something you would never have chosen and occasionally it becomes your favourite song of the year.
An on-demand layer would change that relationship. Maybe players will be able to pick individual songs. Maybe saved tracks become available outside vehicles. Maybe it does something far more mundane. Nobody outside Rockstar knows, and the menu item itself is only reported from one leaked build. What Rockstar has confirmed is that something is changing: its 17 September album announcement promises more detail on "the next evolution of in-game radio".
But paired with GTA Online's history of continuously adding music after launch, it points at something specific: curated radio for discovery, on-demand listening for choice, and a catalogue that keeps growing for years. That is not a Spotify competitor. It is a persistent music environment, which is a stranger and more valuable thing to own.
The part nobody in music should skip
There is a much less romantic side to all of this, and it deserves the same attention as the streaming spikes.
Getting a record into GTA does not necessarily mean an artist gets paid properly. In September 2024 Heaven 17's Martyn Ware went public about Rockstar approaching him, through his publishers, to use Temptation, the group's 1983 single, in GTA VI. According to Ware the offer was $7,500 "for a buyout of any future royalties from the game, forever". He called it iniquitous, said Rockstar refused his counter of a $75,000 buyout or a reasonable royalty, and turned it down, pointing at the roughly $8.6 billion GTA V has grossed.
Both things are true at once. Rockstar can offer something almost nobody else can, which is enormous cultural reach and years of discovery. And exposure is not compensation. A 37,000% streaming spike on a Tom Petty record is worth a great deal to a catalogue owner and worth considerably less to a songwriter who signed a flat buyout.
Anyone reading this as an independent artist should hold both. A GTA placement is one of the most valuable things that can happen to a record. It is also a negotiation with an enormous entertainment company, and the first number is not the last number.
Rockstar is not really a games company any more
Every entertainment company gets called a platform, and the word usually means nothing. Here it is becoming accurate. Look at what is already built.
Rockstar can discover music. It can licence music. It can commission exclusive music. It can hand artists their own radio stations. It can put DJs inside virtual clubs. It can premiere records inside story missions. It can release those records to streaming afterwards. It runs a real record label. And GTA VI contains a fictional record label inside the game.
The end point of that stack is not Rockstar competing with Spotify, and it does not need to. Spotify owns the listening utility. Rockstar owns the harder thing to manufacture, which is context: the ability to take a record and place it inside a cultural universe that hundreds of millions of people already understand.
That is why a forgotten Tom Petty song detonates after a trailer. It is why Flying Lotus made sense as a fictional radio host. It is why underground DJs could exist inside GTA Online without reading as product placement. And it is why CircoLoco Records may turn out to matter far more than a side-project label.
Rockstar built fictional radio stations to play real music. Then it built real clubs inside the fiction. Then it premiered real music inside those clubs and stories. Then it started a real record label. And now that real label appears to have its own station inside the most anticipated game ever made.
Most people watched the Extended Look for the map and the driving. Watch it again with the sound up. Fourteen songs, five lanes, three of them club records, and a station on the leaked dial named after a label Rockstar owns. The radio is where Rockstar tells you what it thinks the culture is, and it has just told you.

Yes, three of the fourteen tracks are club records and all three are contemporary rather than archival: Aluna and Jayda G’s Mine O’ Mine, released on Mad Decent in April 2022, Elderbrook and Bob Moses’ Inner Light, and dance punk group !!! featuring Meah Pace. Rockstar has run the house and techno label CircoLoco Records since 2021.
When was the GTA VI Extended Look and how do I watch it?
The Extended Look premiered on Netflix on 27 August 2026 at 3pm ET, and went up free six hours later, at 9pm ET, on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official Grand Theft Auto VI site, where it is still available.
When does GTA VI come out?
19 November 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
What radio stations are in GTA VI?
Nothing is officially confirmed as of 25 September 2026; Rockstar says details of "the next evolution of in-game radio" are still to come. Unauthorised gameplay footage leaked in August 2026 showed CircoLoco Records Radio, V-Rock, eMotion 98.3, Back Country Radio, Symphony FM, Stockyard FM, Dirty South Classics, Honey FM and Radio On.U, and a later clip added The Wipe, Cocoteo FM, Worldwide FM, Kaleidoscope FM, La Ola and The Chamber 106.6. Treat all of it as development material rather than a lineup, because stations and tracks routinely change before release.
What is GTA VI: The Album?
The official soundtrack album, announced by Rockstar on 17 September 2026 and made in partnership with Atlantic Records. It has 34 original tracks and comes out on 19 November with the game. The six singles out now are by Yung Lean with Future and Metro Boomin, Travis Scott, CA7RIEL and Paco Amoroso with PinkPantheress, Fred again.. and Etienne de Crécy, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro and Keith Richards. It is separate from the licensed songs on the in-game radio.
What is CircoLoco Records?
A real record label launched on 24 May 2021 by Rockstar Games in partnership with CircoLoco, the Ibiza party institution behind the Monday parties at DC-10. It has released music from Rampa, Moodymann, Carl Craig, Dixon, Adam Beyer, Seth Troxler, Kerri Chandler and many others, and is still active in 2026 with releases including Prospa's Free Your Mind and Michael Bibi and KETTAMA's Mystery of Raw.
Who owns CircoLoco Records?
It is a partnership between Rockstar Games and CircoLoco. Rockstar announced it as "a new record label created in partnership with CircoLoco", runs its official website, and the label's releases are credited to Rockstar Records LLC, with Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, on the compilation copyright. The ownership split between the two partners has not been published.
Is that KETTAMA singing on Mystery of Raw?
Not on the hook. Rockstar's release note for the CircoLoco Records single says the vocal hook is a sample of Wu-Tang Clan's Da Mystery of Chessboxin', which KETTAMA and Michael Bibi turned into a peak-time club record.
Is there a record label inside GTA VI?
Yes, and it is officially confirmed. Only Raw Records is a fictional label run in-game by Dre'Quan Priest, working with Boobie Ike, whose businesses include a recording studio. They have signed the rap duo Real Dimez. The music industry is part of the story rather than only the soundtrack.
How much does Rockstar pay to use a song in GTA?
It varies and it is not always generous. In September 2024 Heaven 17's Martyn Ware said Rockstar offered $7,500 for a buyout of any future royalties from Temptation in GTA VI. He rejected it and said Rockstar refused his counter of $75,000 or a reasonable royalty.
Do songs in GTA actually get more streams?
Substantially. Tom Petty's Love Is A Long Road rose roughly 37,000% on Spotify after the first GTA VI trailer, and The Pointer Sisters' Hot Together rose 182,000% after the second, according to Spotify. After the Extended Look, Luminate counted Elderbrook and Bob Moses' Inner Light up 462% to 694,000 US on-demand streams over four days.
What is the Dominican song in GTA 6?
Se Me Nota (Agarrame) by Chimbala and Omega, a Dominican dembow record and one of the 14 songs in the Extended Look. It is dembow specifically, not the reggaeton most people guessed from the clip.
